National Strategy Study for Implementation of CDM in India A National Strategy Study (NSS) on Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) has been initiated in India to assess the issues and opportunities presented by potential international markets for greenhouse gases (GHG) offset through the CDM, and to evaluate processes and methodologies to facilitate implementation of CDM in India. The study is being conducted by TERI, New Delhi, with Swiss consultants providing inputs as required. Participation of India in CDM helps it by bringing in clean technologies and financial resources thereby complementing its sustainable development efforts. The extent to which India could participate in the CDM depends largely on the potential of the GHG emission reductions and their costs at the project, sectoral and national level and the international demand for GHGs offsetProject Funding Major part of the study is financed by the Swiss Government through the World Bank. The World Bank will provide support during the preparation of the study and technical assistance during its performance including monitoring. The Government of India is participating in the financing of the NSS by providing in-kind support. The duration of the NSS is 12 months from the kick-off.
